Principals Report

Dear Parents and Friends

What a wonderful four weeks we have had at school.

Sickness

Sickness has really hit our staff and students hard this last week. I want to say thank you for all of our families for their efforts in going the extra mile in keeping your children home to let them recover fully and to also assist in reducing the spread at school. Please remember if your child has had a temperature or is feeling very unwell please keep them home. If you are ever confused and need some help in deciding if you should send your child to school in the case they are unwell please call or email myself and include our admin and class teacher in the email.

Day for Daniel

Thank you to all of our staff and students for their participation in raising awareness for the Daniel Morcombe Foundation. We wear red for Daniel to Keep Kids Safe.

Principal’s Conference

Next week I will be away for the whole week as I am attending the Principal's Conference in Toowoomba. In my absence Mrs Mary Rutledge will be here to assist teachers and be an extra person on the ground. I am so grateful for Mary and her very positive personality and her enthusiasm in being so generous in giving us her time. I will be back on Friday 3rd November and will be back for the Fete.

Fete

Next Friday, 3rd November is our St Finbarr’s Mystery Holiday Fete. Our cake stall is always a hit and this year we really need all families to make at least one tray of sweets to donate to our cake stall. Please bake and package and drop to the staff room at school or to the cake stall on the night. If you aren’t able to package your sweets please drop it to the school and we will package them for you.

The P&F committee work very hard in the organisation of the night and many hands make light work , a roster has been sent home today ,please contact the office if your unable to do your allocated shift . We will also be setting up some tents etc on Thursday after school if your able to help please stay around after 3pm.

Remember to return your plastic Chinese containers for the lucky ticket prizes before next Friday, any plants you may have for plant stall or any other Trash and Treasure items.

Aladdin and his Magic Smartwatch

On Monay 6th November the Prep-4 students will be walking to the Quilpie Shire Hall to watch a magical performance called Aladdin and his Magic Smartwatch. “Aladdin was sick and tired of his boring old lamp, so he traded it in for a brand-new Smartwatch.”

Remembrance Day

Remembrance Day will be held on Saturday 11th November. Our Rick Milosevic Award recipient from 2022 – Digby Grimm will be reciting a poem. All students are required to wear their full formal uniform which includes BLACK SHOES, WHITE SOCKS and SCHOOL BADGE. We will meet at the park please look for your teacher on arrival. All students will be involved in the service.

Aladdin and His Magic Smartwatch

Aladdin was sick and tired of his boring old lamp, so he traded it for a brand-new Smartwatch!
The smartwatch was great, but it came.
with a very strange Genie who was always
getting things wrong.
Aladdin wished for a really big HOUSE and got a really big MOUSE…What the?
His Mum wasn’t happy either.
Aladdin hasn’t been doing his homework,
or his chores.
He has become very lazy!
Aladdin plans to make the Genie do all the jobs he doesn’t want to do…including his homework!
Be careful what you wish for Aladdin!

Suitable for 3-11 years.
Running time 50 minutes

St Finbarr's Student Protection Contacts

It is a legislative requirement that all non-state schools have at least two nominated staff members to whom a student can report the behaviour of another staff member that the student considers inappropriate.  We call these specially trained staff members School Student Protection Contacts, or SSPCs.  Each SSPC has been nominated by the principal in recognition of their integrity, approachability and knowledge in the area of student protection.  Whilst students are encouraged to speak up to any trusted adult in the school community, it is important that they know they can access these specific staff members at any time should they have worries, queries or concerns. You will have noticed posters throughout the school depicting our current SSPCs.  The SSPCs are also published on our school website along with information about our student protection processes.  In everything we do at St Finbarr's student safety is our highest priority, therefore the SSPCs at our school are key personnel in our overall safeguarding processes.  Please see the poster depicting our current SSPC team.
